Young’s images, along with their poetic responses, celebrate the ethereal wonder of the mist and the voice that emerges from silence. In The Mist binds together poetry and photography in a relationship in which one is not excluded from the other, but rather both are met and bound and emerge as a new wholeness—a wholeness seeking that which is hidden in the mist and that which is revealed: silence, memory, breath.

Renee’ Michele is a pianist/composer who was so taken by the photography of In The Mist that she composed a song for her new CD titled The Space Within. The song title is In The Mist.

About the Book

Día de muertos theatre celebrated through the fine lens of photographer Russell J. Young who has captured six years of muertos’ theatre created by Milagro, the Pacific Northwest's premier Latino arts and culture organization. Every year Milagro produces a brand new Día de los muertos show. Since 2008, Young has captured the essence of these productions and the spirit of the holiday with his keen eye for drama, color and heart. Edited by Milagro Artistic Director Olga Sanchez, the book is "an emotional read and a feast for the eyes."
